Here are some suggestions on how to progress and organise yourself during the first-year. Usually, we give these guidelines to the research students at the beginning of the first year. Most of the guidelines are self-explanatory, however if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask your supervisor.

- Attend, if at all possible, information retrieval seminars (Mondays 3pm) and team meetings (Thursdays 1pm). Let your supervisor know if you cannot make it.
|
|
|
- Attend, if at all possible, information retrieval reading groups (Fridays 1pm).
|
|
|
- Attend, if possible, research away days, when they run.
|
|
|
- Read information about the [Research Student Committee](https://www.gla.ac.uk/schools/computing/postgraduateresearch/informationforresearchstudents/localinformation/#), including their annually updated guide linked to from the RSC webpage.
